Biographies:
Nathan Kemp (left) Head Coach: Kempy joins us this season as a player/ head coach. He has had a long and distinguished career, quite how long though we are unsure as he is too shy to reveal his age. It has seen him play at Jersey RFC, Cornish Pirates, Auckland Blues, Manawatu NPC, Auckland NPC, Ponsonby RFC and as a youngster NZ age grades. He is a straight talking chap who cannot abide rude, lazy and dishonest people, (a shortlist of people whom we know you won’t get on with can be issued on request – Ed). Especially if they have stolen his steak and cheese pies, burger rings or pineapple lumps, which he craves like a heavily pregnant woman! He has recently become a proud father and would love to surpass that pride with a top four finish for Wimbledon this season in London 1 South.
James Ogilvie-Bull (right) Backs Coach/1st team assistant coach: Bully steps up to assist Nathan as the assistant 1st team coach this season. Bully has played most of his rugby on the bench for the likes of Harlequins, Bristol (where he scored the winning try against Saracens in his full Premiership debut) and Worcester before a stint at Esher and now Wimbledon. As a youth he represented England at U21’s and Students levels. The secret to his success was that he used to psych himself up before games by repeatedly listening to, Tracks of my Tears by Smokey Robinson.
Being a back, most things annoy him but nothing more than, and I quote, “Front row forwards who think they are a combination of Jonny Wilkinson and Dan Carter, get back in the ruck and let the backs worry about the complex art of catching and passing!”
Whilst Bully shares Nathan’s goal of a top four finish, he will also see the season as a success if he can get Ben Davies to stop eating pork pie sandwiches, Pete Wallace and Nathan Kemp to hit rucks instead of loitering on the wing and find a kicker who doesn’t resemble a banjo player trying to find the hind quarters of a cow!
