Another Clean Sweep!

Well howdy you particularly marvellous bunch of Dons you!

Yup - that's right! Another weekend - and ANOTHER clean sweep. Both the 1s and 2s travelled to Southend of Saturday and both came back with 2 fab victories. The 1s won 34-12 and the 2s came in 48-26. Absolutely fabulous results all! Very well done indeed. Match report can be found on the website written by the ever-erstwhile Terry "Baggers" Bagworth. I am led to understand that both the 1s and 2s enjoyed a post match celebration in Southend and that absolutely nothing whatsoever happened. Cup of tea, cake, medals and bed. That's about right isn't it?

Oh and while we are on the subject - lets have a peak at that National League 3 table and see Wimbledon top - after 4 games with a maximum 20 points, 5 points above their nearest rivals. Lovely viewing.

Back at Beverley Meads - Jon White's Mavericks - the third team - had themselves another victory - this time against local rivals Batterseas Ironsides 48-5:

The 3's continued their form from preseason beating Battersea Ironsides 3's at Home. A lovely day saw a mix of old heads and youngsters (5 of the squad where from the U21's) run in a hat full of tries against a determined Battersea side. The physicality was a step up from last weeks friendly with a number of big hits being landed by both sides in the opening exchanges. The introduction of Dangerous Dave Roberts who had come straight from the airport following 2 days at the Oktoberfest helped shore up the scrum and provide a platform for the free running backs. Although the game was probably won by halftime Battersea continued to push for scores resulting in a number of strong defensive sets that will have pleased the management. A massive well done to all the debutants - Tim Cronin looks like one to watch for the future at scrum half and Dave Thornton will surely play at a higher level this season. Great to see house wives favourite Rob Tait back in a Don's Jersey. On current form there is lots to be excited about the club and the threes are well set to have a great season.

So a cracking weekend of sporting action from the chaps - unfortunately there was no Ladies fixture this weekend. It did reach my ears that there was a rumour that the 3rd XV captain was spotted fishing in the Burger Shack in Wimbledon Village on Saturday night - with his rod, reel and full tackle out...? Sounds most odd.....

Now onto this weekend, and after last weekend's fixture change - this weekend will see the club putting up 4 men's sides and the Ladies XV - for the first time in a few years. Numbers looking good all round.

Don't forget loads to get involved in this week at the club - with running Tuesday and Thursday night with the Wimbledon Windmilers - all standards welcome. 7.30pm. For the ladies only there is get back to Netball on Thursday evenings - 7.30 meet. Also for the strollers and as many as possible - do come and play touch at 8pm followed by dinner and darts as usual.

Now if you have been living under a rock you would not have realised we have our Halloween bash on Saturday 29th October - the theme is Bad Taste - should be pretty easy knowing what the 2nd XV look like after a game - something about getting styling tips from their coach. £5 per head on the door - register interest on the facebook page - and invite all and sundry. You know it makes sense - in a weirdly twisted and exciting way... that sort of sense.

Right enough from me - have a great week everyone.

Big Love

Badger
