A mixed sett of results

First of all thank you all for your kind words following my surgery last week! I am recovering swiftly and Mrs Badger is itching to get me out of the house again!

So let's get onto last weekend's results.

On Saturday the 1st XV travelled to local rivals Sutton and Epsom for the local derby. In recent years this has been an area where the Dons have enjoyed the lion's share of the victories, last Saturday was not to be. The Dons went down 36-14. However all is not lost! We are still top of the table as an old pal of mine from S&E pointed out as he goaded me online. Even the mighty Exeter Chiefs lost to Quins last Friday - and their coach Rob Baxter said that it can be good to gain these results, as it stops you getting too comfortable and invigorates your future performances. Chins up lads!

The 2nd XV welcomed Cambridge 2nd XV to Barham Road and, even with a strong performance it was not to be for the men in claret and blue as they lost 12-27.

However the Strollers stopped the rot of the weekend by also playing Sutton and Epsom at Barham Road. In a thrillingly close encounter, they came in victorious with a 14-12 victory. Nice to get a win over this oppo to help restore the colours.

So that wraps up a tough weekend for the club - but it's good to get those sort of weekends out of the way!

Last Friday saw the WRFC City Lunch which was a huge success according to all who attended. Our thanks go to all who organised and, of course, to the legendary Jason Leonard, who was a real show stealer! Very well done to all involved!

That's enough from me for now. Have a great week all!

Big Love

Badger
