A bucket of badgering

Good Afternoon Ye Mighty Dons!

It is indeed a freezing Friday - but we have some exciting news! After the fixtures - read on to find out about an International Don, Summer Sports and Six Nations magic. Loads to get through. However - as ever - first up we have this weekend's Wimbledon rugby action.

This Saturday we have only one senior men's team in action, which sees the 2nd XV take on the Richmond Saxons away with a 1pm kick off. This one is only round the corner and I know the men in claret and blue could do with your support!

Sunday sees the Ladies XV head on down to the New Forest to take on Ellingham and Ringwood with a 2pm kick off.

Team sheets are below and good luck to all who don the colours this weekend!

Leah Cuthbertson
It is always a matter of pride when we get to announce any member of our Wimbledon family getting International colours and this time is no exception. Leah has been selected, for a second time, to represent England in the Touch Rugby World Cup in Malaysia this year. This is an entirely self funded exercise so she will be running a few fund raisers to get herself there - so we will be helping her out as we go. Watch this space and many congratulations from all of this on your fine honour!

Summer of Charity
We are well known as a giving and caring family orientated club so this summer is no exception. Lets have a load of fun and get some coin in the coffers of those less fortunate than ourselves! We have the Jack Fishwick 7s again this year taking place on Saturday 27th July! Put this date in the diary and watch this space for info!

Now hear this - we have an important message from his excellency Chairman Wow along the same lines. Dragon Boating!
Kingston WelCare would like to ask for you help.

KW are a small charity working with local families in need. Often they fill the gap left by an overstretched local authority.
The centre manager is Marjie Grant if the name sounds familiar it may be as she was our first Welfare officer. She is also the long suffering partner of John Woods (Chairman Wow) of course.

Funding at KW is tighter than ever and they still need to raise funds for projects to work with families struggling with mental health issues.
They'd like it to be fun though so they want to get a team or teams into this years Kingston Dragon Boat Festival
Would your company enjoy doing that? Do you want to join a team Badger is setting up?
It's on Sunday 21st July and a team is made up of 16 rowers and a drummer
Please let us know if the answer is yes to either.

I think this would be an excellent opportunity for every side to get involved with - it is open to all genders. Be good to see some youth parents putting a team in!

6 Nations at WRFC
Ah yes - the best time of year is upon us. When we all get a chance to take up arms against each other in the world's premier international rugby tournament. It also gives me a chance to ignore Mrs Badger for a month or so (she is Welsh you see).
Anyway - the club wants to get that community spirit going so we are showing the match (Eng vs Fra) on Sunday 10th February and the bar will be open all day. It may also be my birthday - but don't let that put you off! Anyway - if you haven't watched a big match at the club before you should it is a great atmosphere, great for kids and families alike. There will be some food on offer and we are expecting a full house. Make sure you get involved.

Right that is enough from me. Have a great weekend all - and come on England!

Big Love
