Good Evening Ye Mighty Dons!

Good Evening Ye Mighty Dons!

Well here am I all stuffed up with cold and I suddenly realise I haven't written to you this week. So first of all a quick review from last week, then onto this week's games and then - some REALLY BIG NEWS!

So last week the 1st XV, even though they played some cracking rugby, ultimately fell short to Canterbury, losing 7-22. You can read the match report here.
The 2nd XV also faced Canterbury, with a similar outcome, running in 31-48 in a fiercely contested match.
The 3rd XV, the Mavericks, traveled away to Esher to face their Abbots side and fought hard to win a cracking contest 25-33.
The Strollers faced Woking 2nd XV at home and ran away with a 75-0 victory, in a game which showed some excellent rugby.

On Sunday, the Ladies traveled to Drybrook and below is Meg's match report:

Wimbledon Ladies traveled to Drybrook for their penultimate long trip of the season. On the way, we regaled stories of our last trip to Drybrook when we enjoyed an open water swim in the River Wye after the match. Although it was a gloriously sunny day this year, we had to stick with natural healing as it was rather chilly! A 60-0 scoreline flattered the opposition and didn't reflect the strength, determination and skill shown by Wimbledon. It was a tough day at the office but, as always, Wimbledon Ladies pulled together as a strong squad of friends and are looking forward to our next match at home against Guildford. Congratulations to Becca Ezaro who played her first game for Wimbledon. May it be the first of many. Onwards and upwards!:

So - onto this weekend:

The 1st XV travel to Clifton for a 2.30pm kick off, whilst the 2nd XV travel to Tring for a 2.30pm kick off.

And that, dear readers, is that for the senior teams this weekend! Team sheets listed below.

Now: Exciting News!!!!

Ok so we know about the Fireworks Party on Saturday 28th October (see link) - but there is also an old Wimbledon RFC tradition that is coming back. Due to our location in the SW of London the senior sides have enjoyed a Christmas drink in times gone past to celebrate the festive season. Well this year - it is getting an upgrade to include a full City lunch with guest speaker: Wasps, England and British and Irish Lions legend Simon Shaw!!!!! Tickets are only £90 and this is open to the whole club. We want full tables for this one and this is set to be a fine future tradition. Have a look at the poster attached for further details!

Right - that.s enough from me.

See you over the weekend.

Big Love
