Good Afternoon Ye Mighty Dons

I received the image above in the form of a postcard from our beloved Chairman Wow. He spent the weekend taking Mrs Chairman on holiday and this is apparently an image of him on Sunday morning having read the 6 nations results! I'm not sure he took it well!
Congratulations to Wales on their championship - but now let's focus a little more on rugby closer to home.

This weeked the Wimbledon rugby news was all dominated by the female side of the club. The LAdies XV secured a vital win against local rivals Teddington - to the tune of 34-5! You can read about their match here. This was a big win at this stage of the season with the Ladies sitting 4th in the table with one match left to play.
However the news from the female side of the club doesn't end there - as ALL of the female representative sides won for Wimbledon this weekend with U11, U13 and U15 teams all recording victories as well. The U13s and U15s also both finished top of their league tables. Great to see this side of the club doing so well and thank you to everyone who came down to watch the Ladies XV on Saturday

The only Senior men's fixture which remained, after the 3rd XV opposition pulled out, was the Strollers travelling away to Farnham. The boys were a touch surprised as they appeared to be playing their 2nd XV. Despite quickly going down to 12-0 the boys in claret and blue pulled it back to 12-17. A valiant effort ensured but unfortunately our chaps lost 36-29. A great effort from the lads.

Jane Purchase

Finally we have to end with some bad news. Jane Purchase very sadly passed away yesterday following a fall at home. For those who didn't know her, Jane was in the past a true Wimbledon stalwart, who helped our club back when the facilities of today were a mere pipedream. She continued to support us as we grew and attended practically every President's lunch, where she always had her usual big smile and charm. The last few years have not given her the best of health, but even so, she was still booked to attend the lunch at the end of the month.
For those who knew her she will be sorely missed, and, as a club we send our sympathy and respects to her family that she leaves behind. We wish them all the best in this difficult time.

That's all from me.

Big Love

Badger
