Good Afternoon Ye Mighty Dons!

I trust you are all looking and feeling snazzy and chic in the sunshine - much like myself.

So another weekend passes and we edge that much closer to the end of the season. Great to see such a packed clubhouse last Saturday following the President's lunch. The good feeling amongst the crowd matched that of the weather and the 1st XV result. However it was no easy feat - so have a look at the match report of the 32-18 win over Shelford here.
The 2nd XV also secured a cracking victory with a 52-24 win in the searing heat.

On Sunday - the Ladies faced Bath and lady's scribe Anna Yeardley has kindly passed on the following report:

Wimbledon Ladies 19 - 43 Bath Ladies,

On Sunday Wimbledon Ladies played their last game of the season against second in the table Bath. Bath are a strong side who always bring the best out in the ladies, the match this weekend was no different. From the off the game was very evenly fought and the ladies in maroon and blue stood up to the challenge, by half time Wimbledon had two spells of playing with 14, first wing Laura received a yellow card for not releasing and then within minutes of her been back on the pitch captain Gutti was then shown a yellow card, these two spells saw Bath take advantage, however Bath were not going to be outdone by Wimbledon and they also received 2 yellow cards after the break. Emily the arms Martin scored 2 beautiful run away tries, and the 3rd try was scored by newcomer to Wimbledon Jess, captain Hannah Gutteridge converted 2 of the tries. It was a great game, as the saying goes, last try wins...

Sunday also saw the U16s take on Battersea Ironsides in their must win game to aim for div 2. My sources tell me it was a brilliant effort from all 23 squad members and the Dons ran in 27-10 winners with five tries giving them a bonus point. A fantastic achievement for these young lads looking to secure the future of our club in good health.

So this weekend we have a break from rugby for the annual Egg-fest - or Easter as some people call it. The 1st XV have one more fixture in the league - away against Dorking - however all eyes are now firmly on Saturday 29th April - for the play off to reach the highest level ever seen for Wimbledon RFC. Ooof.

I shall leave you with this final observation from Saturday. Notable old fart Noel Aherne was spied supping a bottle of beer on the decking after lunch enjoying the sunshine - when he remarked he had never had this particular brand before. It was only when one of the more observant chaps pointed out to him that his beer was non-alcoholic that the reason for this became clear. Cue a spluttering and visibly shaken Irish man storming into the bar to demand an explanation for this heresy. Oh how we laughed.

That's enough from me. Get your tables in for the end of season dinner please.

Have a very safe an happy Easter break everyone - whatever you may be doing.

Big Love

Badger
