South West Trains haven't got him yet

Good afternoon Dons!

Well firstly let me offer my heartfelt congratulations to the mighty All Blacks on their fantastic display throughout the world cup - both on and off the pitch. I do hope our own motley crew of kiwis have finally recovered from their celebrations!

Now onto business.

First up another victory to report:
Teddington Antlers 7 - 8 Wimbledon Ladies

On Sunday the ladies were away to local rivals Teddington it was so foggy at points you couldn't see the other side of the pitch, they fought hard and they fully deserved their well earned victory. The game saw Teddington take an early lead when their centre Rhian Clarkson crossed the line, the try was then successfully converted by the Antlers number 10. Wimbledon spent the majority of the game in the opposition half, with dogged determination the breakthrough came around 15 minutes before the end with a try from Madeline Chapman who has recently returned to the side after a couple of seasons at Wasps, unfortunately the try was not converted, however with a few minutes to go Wimbledon were awarded a penalty in front of the posts and captain Hannah Gutteridge kicked for the 3 points with minutes to go the ladies fought hard to maintain their lead, this is 2 wins from 2, they face top of the league Southampton Trojans at home on Sunday, they really do need your support.

More exciting news - the executive committee (those unseen beings who lurk in the shadows and make the club work) now has a new (comfy) chair in the shape of John Woods. He has kindly penned a little note about this which is on the website. Congratulations Woodsie!

This weekend sees a packed fixture list for the Dons with all mens and ladies teams in action. We also seem to have packed squads all round - so keep your peepers on the emails for the squad lists!

1s and 2s have a social at the club house this Saturday as well. In addition we wish club Stalwart and prominent gut - Richie Stewart a very happy 30th this weekend (is he really that young??!!! - ed.) He will be having his own festivities at Tamesis dock, www.tdock.co.uk in Vauxhall which may lure some of the 3rd XV to on their way back from Becs Old Boys.

OK enough from me for now - team sheets and weekend final details later this week. Have a great one you fine beasts you!

Big Love

Badger
