Good Day to you Ye Mighty Dons

Good Day to you Ye Mighty Dons
Well the Christmas period is now well and truly a speck in the memory and New Year seems very old hat now – however as I haven’t been in touch for a while – Happy New Year everyone.
Well we have had our first weekend of Wimbledon action. The 1st XV were away to top of the table Tonbridge Juddians and unfortunately came home a brave 26-6 points in second. Good to get that fixture out of the way early in the New Year- now onto bigger and better things. Match report is not available as of yet
The 2nd XV were at home to a strong Cobham. After a tough start and a slightly rusty opening, the boys in claret and blue finally found their groove and turned up the heat to run away 22-15 winners.
Also no match report available as of yet
The ladies XV unfortunately had their game against London Welsh cancelled due to the conditions at White Deer Park. We hope that their home fixture this weekend really kicks their season back into action with a bang!
Also on Sunday the Wimbledon U21 team took to the field to play a very strong Richmond U21 side. This age group is key in the future development of the club and it was a testament to the lads as to the manner in which they played. Richmond have a very capable and developed U21 side and we had 16 players only. Two early injuries reduced Wimbledon to 14 men which only seemed to spurn the guys on as they immediately went and scored. Unfortunately they ended up losing by a try but a savagely intense and commendable effort from the Wimbledon future All-Stars – watched by Sean Edwards no less (who’s son played scrum half for Richmond U21).
So that is last week out of the way – onto this week.
Fixtures are:
1st XV vs Guernsey (home)
2nd XV vs Battersea Ironsides (away)
3rd XV – awaiting fixture exchange after S Godstone cancelled
Ladies XV vs Rosslyn Park (home)

As there is a 1st XV home match – please get lunch requests into Mick by the end of today.
Right that’s enough twaddle from me. I’m off to clean the sett after I left the keys with John Woods for the Christmas period. Lots of empty tins about the place and my on-demand seems to be full of darts world championship recordings. Typical chairman-like behaviour. Tsk
See you Saturday

Big Love
