Last home game approaches for the 1st XV

Good Afternoon Ye Mighty Dons!

Well spring certainly seems to be here and as we push towards the end of the season we find the 1st XV trailing top of the table Sutton and Epsom by only 3 points. It is going to be a real roller coaster end to the season and we have Sutton and Epsom facing us this Saturday at HOME - you know where you are needed. We also have Saturday's game being sponsored by the London Swimming Pool Company which is thank to James Smith, who's son used to play in our Junior section. You can read more about them here.

However - in the meantime - let's run through the results from last weekend.

Saturday saw the 1st XV travel to Sidcup and only to go down 21-20 in a heartbreakingly close game. There is no match report up yet - but it should be up soon.

The 2nd XV were holding the fort at Beverly Meads and welcomed Ampthill 2nd XV for the afternoon. In what was described as "an utterly enthralling game" by Chairman Wow - the boys in claret and blue went down 29-35. Notable performances included the name Mark Scott with a particularly enjoyable hit on the oppo prop, much to the enjoyment of the home fans.

The only other senior outing of the weekend was the Strollers travelling to local rivals Sutton and Epsom. Following a series of ate drop outs the chaps only had a team of 11 with them - but in fairness Sutton lent a few to allow the game to go ahead and went ahead it did with the Strollers coming home winners 29-46. A good result to finish off the weekend.

However the weekend did not stop there with Wimbledon holding our minis and youth festival on Sunday in the glorious sunshine. It was a real credit to all who organised the day (too many to mention), the club looked fabulous and the event was a fantastic success. Congratulations everyone!

Right - that's enough from me for now. Don't forget this Saturday's fixture, with the added surge of the sold-out President's lunch, will be very busy - so if you can get to the club without driving - please do.

Big Love
