Good afternoon Dons

Good Afternoon Dons,

Well first up it has been a tough few days in the news. The dreadful incidents of Paris have no place on this missive, however - it is with a very heavy heart that I read the news of, true rugby legend, Jonah Lomu's passing this morning. It would be wrong to not take a moment and mention it. We have a strong New Zealand contingency at our club and the rugby family the world over mourns the passing of a true great. The number of players I have known, some of whom play at this club, and the world over - who were inspired to pick up a ball and run with it by the big man are too numerous to count. Rugby has lost one of its great ambassadors and our thoughts go out to his family and those of us who knew him.
Thanks for the memories Big Man.

Yet we must move on, so onto happier news. For the second week running our men's sides had a clean sweep:

1st XV 39 vs Gravesend 5: match report here
2nd XV 29 vs London Cornish 19: match report here
3rd XV 80 vs Law Society 0........... no match report. Score line says it all really.

The Ladies team came a very close second to a strong Bat Ladies team in an absolute belter on Sunday. Great to see the touchline full with lots of supporters. Really worth coming down for the ladies fictures if you haven't already this season. Match report here:

Wimbledon Ladies 24 - 31 Bath Rugby Ladies,

In a game where the difference between the two sides was a few lapses in concentration and squandered opportunities the ladies were unfortunate to be on the wrong side of the 24 - 31 final result. It was an excellent performance from the whole team and the linkage between the backs and the forwards was brilliant. Wimbledon played positive attacking rugby when they could have sat back and defended, they dominated the scrum area and there were some really positive running lines from the backs. The try scores were Lu, Darkie, Alex and El, and the 2 conversions were by Gutti. Next week the ladies have an away fixture with Hammersmith and Fulham in the cup

So onto this week. Another full club weekend approaches. The 1st XV take on Bracknell at home, the 2nd's host Guildford whilst the 3dr XV travel away to t same opposition. The Ladies have a cup fixture away as above, against Hammersmith and Fulham.

This weekend also sees the return of the ever popular Wimbledon RFC Comedy Night. This is an absolute belter of an evening so if you are not already in possession of a ticket - do yourself a favour and go out and get one. You can purchase them over the bar courtesy of Mick.

Then we have the ever popular Christmas Jumper Themed Club Christmas party at the clubhouse on 5th December. Mini and Youth parents should definitely come along. Get a babysitter in for the evening. You are more than welcome. No tickets. No fuss. Just Christmas cheer and utterly tasteless knitwear.See you there.

That's enough from me.

Have a great afternoon.

Big Love

Badger
