Badger is Back

Good day to you Ye Mighty Dons!

I am back from my travels of the West Country and so first up - many thanks to Anna for covering for me.
We are getting towards the business end of the season now and as suck there is a lot to get through socially - so read through to understand whats up and coming.

Onto Business - last weekend's results.

The 1st XV hosted Guildford at home and came through with a rousing 36-17 victory - to keep that promotion hunt - well and truly alive! Get in Dons!
There should be a match report up - but it appears there is not.(!)...... I go away for one week....mutter mutter standards slipping....young people today.....

The 2nd XV travelled away to Ealing Trailfinders and found themselves a 0-49 win. Outstanding work chaps.

The Mavericks had their game cancelled with Sutton and Epsom pulling out in fear - boo and hiss. Still it leaves a victory on the league sheet.

The Strollers travelled to Old Ruts looking to exact a vengeance win after a thumping earlier in the season and win they did 10-49. Well done everyone.

On Sunday the Ladies hosted Swindon Supermarines and unfortunately came up just short losing 7-40. Match report from Anna:

On Sunday the Ladies welcomed Swindon Supermarines to Wimbledon.. It was a closely fought first half with Emily Martin scoring for the Dons which was converted by Hannah Gutteridge.
In the second half the visitors mounted pressure and converted more of their chances than Wimbledon.

Onto Plymouth this Sunday - a bus trip awaits......

Old Emanuel RFC
Unfortunately I must now pass on some very distressing news.

One of the players at Old Emanuel RFC, Shawnton de Four, tragically died last Saturday of an apparent heart attack whilst playing.
He was just 34 years old and leaves behind a wife and two 14 month old twin girls.

It goes without saying that everyone at the club sends our deepest and heartfelt condolences to everyone at Old Emmanuel and especially to his grieving family.
Our President, Mike Keane, has written to them, on behalf of the club, to express our sympathy.

I would ask everyone to be respectful, should you come into contact or play against anyone at Old Emmanuel at this very difficult and challenging time.
Thank you.

Big Braai

Onto happier news now. On Wednesday may 3rd WRFC will be welcoming South African legends Schalk Brits, Francois Low and Schalk Burger to the club for the Big Braai.
Tables of ten are being sold at £750 and this event has limited availability.
Please see the attached poster for details and get involved for this very exciting venture.

End of Season Dinner Klaxon!!!!

This will be held on 12th May - no excuses for not attending.

Comedy Night

This is going to be awesome people! 24th March - there are posters all over the club.
