Good Afternoon Ye Mighty Dons

Good Afternoon Ye Mighty Dons

Only the one mail from me this week - but a bit to get through. So here we go......

Well what a weekend last weekend was. The 1s and 2s welcomed local rivals London Irish to Barham Road with all men's teams playing at home. The 1st XV ran out winners AGAIN with a 46-21 victory. You can read the match report here. This is really turning into a cracking finale for the season. Fingers, toes and paws crossed! Keep going lads!

The 2nd XV - not be outdone - also ran out winners with a scoreline of 20-0.

The 3rd XV welcomed a strong Old Reigation's 2nd XV to Wimbledon and unfortunately went down 14-22 in a close and thrilling encounter.

The old lags of the Strollers welcomed an under-manned Old Freeman's 2nd XV but the match went ahead all the same. The final score was a win for the boys in claret and blue of 76-10, but a good spirit was shown with players helping out the opposition to keep the game alive.

Then we come to the Ladies XV - who went a-wombling to Guernsey for their weekend. The match ended in a close and hard fought 5-5 draw, which showed a great reflection to the tenacity of both teams. Their flight back on Sunday night was cancelled and our travelling ladies seemed to go on tour. There are reports they are finally back on terra firma now. Their coach Saner was reluctant to comment on whether Guernsey were pleased to see the back of them or not....!

Ok onto this week. Now for most people this is a free week. HOWEVER - there is some cracking CUP ACTION this Saturday at Home.
Yes, we haven't been in the cup for years in the men's section but coaches Bertie and Percy (sound a touch like flower pot men) have pushed us ahead. To make this fixture even more interesting, our coaches feel that we are going to demonstrate the depth of talent in our men's senior squad. There will be no 1st XV regulars in the side who will be picked from the 2nd and 3rd XV.
Here are the details:
Kick off: 2.30pm
Opposition: Dorking
Support: YOU!!!
Plus apparently there is another bit of cup action - albeit Calcutta - in the bar afterwards!
Team sheet is below - as apparently, not everyone can work social media...... (sigh)

Shaun Barns

As many of you know - Shaun has been very ill in New Zealand and we are raising money to help him and his fondly remembered family, to help with the medical bills.
If you wish to donate - please click on this link and follow the instructions. Let's show our true club spirit:

With regard to the fund-raiser at NZ House - I will be in touch with you who have expressed an interest individually.

Right - that's enough from me. Have a great week everyone!
