Good Afternoon Ye Mighty Dons!!!
Well - that's a wrap. The season is over. All done and dusted.
Monday saw the last of the senior club's claret and blue action at the Surrey Finals Day. Here's how it went down:
On an absolutely scorching day, first up we saw the Ladies XV take on Guildford in their final. Unfortunately, even after a tough game, the scoreline went Guildford's way with a score of 21-5. Although not the result wanted - this does not take the shine off a fantastic season for Wimbledon's Ladies XV, Congratulations on a superb season all!
Next up were the Mavericks of the 3rd XV. Yet again though this final match proved a bridge too far for the claret and blues against an already-met Camberley 2nd XV. Again another season to be proud of gents!
The strollers had their final against Kingston's 2nd XV. A much changed opposition from the one seen earlier this season proved a tough ask. The strollers really rose to the challenge in a thoroughly bruising encounter, but a few break away tries meant that Kingston ran home 25-12 winners. However the strollers have gained promotion and were all smiles after a long and hard season. Well done lads.
So the afternoon had not necessarily gone Wimbledon's way - however the Surrey Cup final remained for the last remaining wimbledon side - and it was a cracker against Esher's 2nd XV. The final scoreline came in with Wimbledon defeating the home the home side 17-19 and Wimbledon lifting the Surrey Cup!
So there we are - the season ends with silverware!!!!!!!!!
That's all from me for now. Keep your eyes on social media for the Jack Fishwick Sevens and other events throughout the summer.
I'm off top decorate the sett and gear up to making an honest woman of Mrs Badger.
Thanks for all the feedback this season and congratulations to everyone who played in the hallowed claret and blue!
It's been emotional.
