Badger returns

First of all thank you to Chairman Wow - I mean Woods - for covering for me whilst I was away getting hitched. Thank you to all of you who dropped myself and Mrs Badger some very kind words for our special day. Anyway - enough mushy stuff - back to the serious business of the ruggers! Well it appears to have been a great start to the season - long may it continue. Let's get through the round up of last weekend.

Well on Saturday the a much changed 1st XV travelled to Tonbridge Wells and came home victorious with a stroming 8-52 win! You can read a thoroughly engaging Tony Mann match report here
Meanwhile the 2nd XV travelled to Rams Titans and got their first win of the season with a real crunch game - coming home 27-32 the better,
The 3rd XV traveled to local rivals Sutton and Epsom for a tough fixture against their 2nd XV. The scoreline of 53-7 does not reflect the heart throwin in by the chaps in claret and blue - with many people playing out of position against a very well drilled home side. One to put in the memory bank for later in the season methinks.
On Sunday the Women's XV travelled to Teddington for their first fixture of three away from home. Even though I am told plenty was left on the pitch unfortunately Teddington prevailed with 43-22 victory against the Ladies in Claret and Blue.

Now onto this weekend.

The first XV are at home on Saturday and so this means........ LUNCH! Saturday sees the 1st XV welcome Bedford to Beverley Meads and we have some sponsors coming down so we would like to fill up the slots. It is but a mere £15 for some top notch nosh and you get the company of Chairman Wow and King James (club President Jim Green) to entertain you all. This to be followed by a mouth watering display of rugby exuberance. To get your place - please email myself or Chairman Woods for reservations. Remember, Saturday is a long day at home stuck in with the kids... best to get them outside and yourself to the bar!

Saturday also sees the 2nd XV travel to Old Elthamians and the 3rd XV will travel to Sutton and Epsom AGAIN for a pre-season (ish) friendly (ish) tens tournament.
On Sunday the Women's XV continue their run of away fixtures travelling to Cullompton for their next fixture.
Friday night this week sees those old dogs / nags of the Strollers limber up for their own brand of pre-season. This will be taking in Wimbledon Village and I believe commences at the Crooked Billet. Late comers will be fined with extra laps....

Well that's all from me for now. Have a great week everyone and go hard on the paddock in training for the weekend to come.

Big Love

Badger
