A big Saturday ahead

Hi all, it appears our resident Badger is roaming more and more these days. He's in Amsterdam now and I am trying hard not to think what he might be getting up to, he says he may come back before the end of the week but we shall see.

Anyway I'm covering again so what has and will be going on at your beloved club, well lots actually.

Last Sunday our Women traveled to Guildford but were not to come out on top this time and lost 19 -7 They are still reasonably comfortable at mid table in Women's Championship South West 2
The mighty Strollers were due to take on Old Paulines but and very sadly OP have had to drop out of they the way league. We still got the points and are top of ther league. That's not he way we want to win it though, apart from anything else the endangered species that make up the strollers need their exercise. So they'll be setting up some additional games very soon, watch this space.
The Mavericks aka our 3rds were the only team at home last week and they put on a good display beating Esher Abbotts 32 - 14 and are now sitting nicely at 3rd in the championship league.
Our 2s traveled down to Canterbury and a close game saw them come away winners 10 -12 making that 8 wins on the bounce and are now 4th in division 2.
And our resurgent 1st team rattled another team near the top of the table and nearly came away with another scalp but the Canterbury defense held and we lost 17 - 7. As you will have seen in the excellent match report we were denied our bonus point with the last play of the game as we launched another attack that could have so easily revered the result. Being joint bottom is therefore still hard to believe but the whole club are confident that will change.

This week we have a cornucopia of delights for you entertainment this Saturday;

At 1.00 the women take to the field . Yes they're playing on a Saturday for a change so now you have no excuse not to come and support them. They kick off early at 1.00 so don't be late and give them some vocal support as they take on Reading Abbey. It was close when we went over there so expect a good game.

At 2.00 the all conquering 2nd team take on Tring, they nicked a win down there so revenge is the cards I imagine.

The 1st team kick off at 2.30 and will be hosting Clifton who edged it by 5 points last time we met but now sit just 3 places above us. You know this will be an entertaining game and it will be all the better if you watch at least some of the earlier games first so do get down the club this week.

I have it on reliable authority that the fact we have 3 teams at home plus Old Johnians will also be playing (at 2.00 I think) means there will be bit of an after party so lets get those tills ringing in the clubhouse.
Then 3rds have a good away fixture at Battersea and will no doubt be back at some point too so there will be a good atmosphere at Barham Road so don't miss it.

Don't forget you can see the squads as they are announced on our face book page https://www.facebook.com/wimbledonrfc/ and in the programme when it's loaded on our website http://www.wimbledonrfc.co.uk/

Last week I asked if we had any volunteers to help out with a bit of DIY and for a plumber to sort out an extra tap. I was a little bit disappointed with the response but a special shout out to Steph' Laventure who did volunteer his time to sand down a couple of tables. Cheers Steph'., Step' is recently retired so has a bit of time and like most of us has a few DIY skills, but let's face it he's not the only one in that position so come on be like Steph' don't be like that other bloke.
WE could still do with more offers and I'm still on the look out for that plumber.

This weeks request though is for someone who knows a bit about TVs. The ones at the club have stopped responding as they should and we cant have all three showing he same thing without setting them separately A wire or plug has come away somewhere, anyone feel they could take that on for us? It's probably quite simple.

And those of you with young children don't forget this excellent camp that's on offer over half term (see picture)
