A well fort and well deserved victory
Wimbledon Ladies beat Teddington at Home, 26-12
After a successful and fun pre season campaign, Wimbledon Ladies were raring to go for their first match of the season. With new coach, Saner Hassan, and a number of new experienced players, the ladies were chomping at the bit from the off. The touchlines were full of old girls (fondly referred to as the "Grandmas") and a number of not so old girls who were treated to a fine display of rugby. As always with this fixture, it was hotly contested and both teams were challenged throughout. With tries from fullback Lu, winger Emily and centre Alex, and a fine kicking display from fly half, and captain, Gutti, Wimbledon Ladies came out on top with a 26-12 win. The weather didn't exactly play ball and at one stage although the afternoon began in blazing sunshine, we were playing in hail and gail force wind/rain (which always seems to be the case when we play Teddington)! We're looking forward to the return fixture and thank Teddington for agreeing to move the fixture to a Saturday so we could enjoy a fabulous team bonding evening afterwards. Here's to the next one!
