Wimbledon Ladies on Tour!
A hard fought match with a frustrating result
Wimbledon traveled on an adventure to Guernsey, for what turned out to be a long weekend! We arrived in Guernsey on Saturday and had the perfect preparation for the match.....an afternoon of mini golf, tennis, swimming and jacuzzi followed by a fantastic team meal and an evening on the driving range!
We woke up on Sunday to some rather dreary weather but thought nothing of it. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast at our hotel and headed off to the ground for a 12pm kick off. The match was hard fought and the result was rather frustrating for us. Credit to Guernsey, they had stepped up their game since we played them at home. We continued to flourish in our set piece and open play with some incredible defensive displays but the score didn't go in our favour. Congratulations to try scorer Emily.
We finished the game exhausted and ready to head home....or so we thought! We hadn't quite realised that the day had been so quiet due to a lack of planes flying overhead. We headed to the airport to find out that all flights had been cancelled due to the weather and the next available flight was on Monday evening. So after a quick call around some local hotels and calls into work, Wimbledon Ladies headed on tour! Or at least as much as we could do in February in Guernsey when not very much is open. We eventually headed back to England on Monday evening and enjoyed a restful week or so leading up to our last group of fixtures in the 17/18 season.
All in all, a great team bonding weekend and we're excited for the last few games of the season.
