A enjoyable match in the sunshine!
A cracking result for our penultimate home game of the season.
When we visited Newbury earlier in the season, I wrote about "a textbook example that rugby is a game of two halves". This time, I'm happy to be writing about a game which showed Wimbledon's progression and dominance in all areas of the game. Our set piece dominated in this fixture and Wimbledon showed everything they had been training for both in attack and defence, around the ruck and in open play. When we visited "The Blues" at home, I also wrote about Wimbledon Ladies playing some of "the best rugby in its 27 year history". Again, I'm happy to be trumping this writing that the display of rugby in this fixture was the best we had seen all season. We kept our cool heads and enjoyed a tough but rewarding fixture. Newbury continued to be a positive and fun team to compete against and we're looking forward to the fixtures next season.
Congratulations to Basher and Em Scott who scored their first tries for Wimbledon today. Both joined Wimbledon this season from other clubs and are flourishing here. When asked why she loved Wimbledon so much, Em Scott said "Such a great bunch of women, they're like a family to me. Everybody supports each other and I have been made to feel so welcome."
