Wimbledon Women go on an adventure to the south coast!

A hard fort but enjoyable match
With Plymouth having made a brief appearance in Championship 1 last season, it has been two years since Wimbledon Women started their away journey at 6.45am! The team certainly haven't missed this but playing the fixture on a Saturday was, this time around, a small win. The journey was relatively smooth and the team arrived in Plymouth in good time. The sun was shining and the team was in good spirits. Getting your head in the game after an early start and long journey is always difficult and something that showed in this fixture. The first half was one of lackluster from Wimbledon, especially in defence. This took its toll on the score sheet and the team went into the second half determined to make an impact. This, they certainly did. There were still holes in the defence which Plymouth capitalised on but it was vast improved. In attack, it was like watching a difference team play. Four tries scored and the bonus point was in sight just before the final whistle went.
Tries were scored by Captain and Fly Half, Gutti, Maz, Georgia and Alex. Congratulations to Laura on her first game with Wimbledon. May it be the first of many.
The team enjoyed an active bus journey home and continued the partying once they'd returned home to Wimbledon!
We have really enjoyed playing Plymouth over the years. It's great to see how the team have grown - not just in terms of their players but their interaction with the whole club. See you next year.
