A great gutsy performance from Wimbledon's Women
By Meg Gardiner
Fantastic start to Super Saturday!
This fixture is always hotly contested and is one that players from both teams see as the real pinnacle of the season. This time last year, we were playing in snow, sleet, ice and fog. This year, the rain held off but the wind was quite something! The team enjoyed a focused warm up which meant they started the game, all guns blazing. The match that followed was one of the best team performances seen this season and enjoyed by a packed touchline.
It was rather fitting that the last try of the game came from club stalwart, Katy Robinson who was playing her last match before retirement. Robbo, as she's fondly known, has grown to be a huge asset to the Club. Not only has she grown into her position at centre but she has also grown off the field as well. We will all remember her dancing at End of Season dinner 2018!
Tries also came from second row, Cat, centre, Carter, Winger, Lexi (x2), and full back Laura. Two conversions were also scored by Captain, Gutti.
Congratulations to Elizabeth who played her first match for Wimbledon today, may it be the first of many. The team enjoyed a fantastic social after the game including a trip to Twickenham to watch coach, Jade Konkel, in the England Women v Scotland Women final six nations match.
The Women have one fixture left this season - at home against Cullompton on 31st March. See you there.
