Good Afternoon Ye Mighty Dons!

First up - the 1st XV had their first loss of the season against a strong Tonbridge Juddians side in a very engaging game, going down 25-12. Terry Bagworth's Match Report is Here
However following their strong start they remain 2nd in the table tied on 20 points in the top 3.
The 2nd XV also had a loss in another fiercely contested counter - finally relinquishing to a 52-35 defeat against Old Albanian Romans.

Better news came in the guise of the 3rd XV with a 65-5 win at Old Cranleighans:

A classy performance from a mixture of old heads and youngsters overcame one of the more mature teams they are likely to encounter this team at Old Cranleighians to continue their unbeaten start to the season.

Starting with only 12 due to late cry offs and players going to the wrong ground a quick shuffle saw a number of centres redeployed to the Backrow giving us a lot of pace and dynamism.

After a fairly frantic opening 20mins the Dons settled and started going through the phases scoring a number of well worked tries. In an we'll mannered by physical games both teams lost players to the medic tent with both Chris Martin and Greeny having to leave the field - Greeny with a multiple fracture to his hand so we wish him well for a speedy recovery.

The introduction of our very own Polynesian freight train Gav Tusini part way through the second half was the icing on the cake with a quick fire double putting the game to bed and being genuine looks of bewilderment from the opposition.

Once again the U21's stepped up with strong performances from Soo, Phil Neilson and Matt Moss. Chris Beaven again making his presence (once he had realised OC's are based in Thames Ditton not Cranleigh) and MoM Rob Tait who once again led from the front in both defence and attack.

Onwards and upwards for this week - A home encounter against Reeds KO 3pm.

The Strollers also marked their return to Wimbledon with a 12-0 over Kingston 2nd XV. Competently led by Andy Kerr and Andy Haley, the chaps showed some fierce resistance against numerous onslaughts from Kingston and took their chances when they came. Full credit to man of the match Brett Box, donning the colours after a few years out.
Next week sees the old horses travel to local rivals Battersea Ironsides for a 1.30pm kick off.

The Ladies rounded up the weekend with an away win against local rivals London Welsh with a superb scoreline of 3-45.

On Sunday the Ladies made the short journey over to Richmond to play London Welsh Ladies. From the off Wimbledon were well inside the London Welsh half applying pressure, within minutes Welsh conceded a penalty just to the right of the posts, in a repeat of the Guildford game captain Hannah Gutteridge slotted it over the posts to put Wimbledon 3 points in front. From here on in Wimbledon dominated the play, Emily "the arms" Martin scored 4 tries from the wing, tries were also scored by scrum half Maddie Chapman and centre Sam White, Gutti converted 4 tries. At times the ladies lack of discipline let them down and too many penalties were conceded, the ladies received yellow cards, the only try that was conceded was when Wimbledon were down to 13 due to one of the yellows and a substitution delay. Lots to work on but things are looking up, 2 wins from the last 2 games with 67 points scored and only 17 conceded, this Sunday they welcome league leaders Plymouth Albion to Wimbledon.

So all in all a very much mixed bag from the weekend.
Well done to all who played and rest up well those of you who took a knock. The season moves ever onward as we push into the soft lush grounds of Autumnal Rugby.

Final word - I've said it before and I'll say it again - keep those diaries free for 29th November. Halloween party - Bad Taste Theme - £5 on the door.
Speak to club physio Steve Garvey for ideas on dress sense.... snigger.

That's all from me.

Big love
