Wins for the 1sts and 3rds

Hello Hello and Good Evening to you all Ye Mighty Dons!

Well that was quite the start to the new year - and one that all those with claret and blue in the veins wanted to see. A packed touchline and a rousing win to start the new year off where the 1st XV wanted to be. Redruth came to Wimbledon and the 1st XV triumphed in a cracking game 33 - 28. You can read the match report, as if you haven't already, here.

However - that wasn't all for Saturday! Whilst the 2nd XV had to make do with a full training session after their opposition pulled out, the 3rd XV saw off a spirited London Exiles 2nd XV 17-14! A rousing day indeed.

A final point on Saturday, it did reach my furry little ears that a number of ladies on the sidelines opf the 1st XV match were said to be, and I quote: "weak at the knees" at the sight of Bradley Ugodulunwa, charging through the defence into their 22, early on in the first half. Is this the start of a new "pin up" feature for the 1st XV......?

OK - loads to get onto now.

First up - one for the parents on the list:

Wimbledon in the Community Half-term Rugby Camps
Weds 14th - Friday 16th February

2018 is here and with it comes the launch of the Wimbledon in the Community Rugby Development Weeks.

There will be a variety of dates throughout the school holidays all year, and up first is the February half term camp running from Wednesday 14th - Friday 16th February at the club.

We have two camps: one for U7s through to U14s and an intro to playing 7s for U17s and U18s. Prices start from £100 for 3 days.

These WITC events will have a multi sport focus, blending rugby and athletic development with the core values of the game; the most important one being enjoyment!

Keep an eye out for the WITC team and their flyers at the club over the next few Sundays. To find out more or to book your place email info@zionsports.com or call Neil Sweeney on 07900 606383. See the poster below.

Next Up: YOUR CLUBHOUSE NEEDS YOU!

Ok so we have a Clubhouse Committee. What's that I hear you cry?! Well - let me explain.
As you all know - we are all great managers and leaders in our own minds. Yet there is always one chap or chapette, usually stood at the bar, telling all and sundry around him or her about how they could do things better. Well, if you think that person is right - WE WANT THEM.
We would like you to nominate a representative to tis committee so that we can run our clubhouse that much better and in the way that you, the dear reader, feels is appropriate. We would PARTICULARLY like to have youth and mini parents to join in on this, as well as the WIDER SUPPORTING community. This is your club. You should dictate how it is run. My continual requests for free burrowing rights have excluded me - obviously!

However - the first meeting will be upstairs at the clubhouse TUESDAY 16TH JANUARY - 7.30PM. Even if you are not nominated but think you could bring something, a skill, a voice, an ambition, whatever to the meeting - Please do turn up.

Ok that's enough from me for now.
I'm off to remove leaves from my sett and install a proper central heating system. Leaves?! I mean really! Silly idea. Cheerio!

Big Love
