1sts go down 19-17 after epic battle at Tonbridge

Good Morning Mighty Dons,

We start this week with the sad news of the passing of South African rugby legend Joost Van Der Westhuizen, who died this morning aged 45 from Motor Neurone Disease.
Our thoughts are with all our South African friends at this time. A true giant of the global rugby family sadly leaves us. Rest in Peace.

However, we must move forward and so let's look at the weekend's results.

On Saturday the 1st XV travelled to top of the table Tonbridge Juddians for the mouth-watering clash of the season.
The Dons went down 19-17 after an epic battle which had them leading 17-16 with 4 minutes to go, only for TJ's to grab a last ditch points effort.
The match report is not up yet - but will be later.
It's fair to say everyone at the club is very proud of the 1st XV's efforts - and the season is not over.
1st XV manager Bully said to me:"only 4 points behind and with 8 games still to go, we're going to push them every step of the way!"
That's the Don's spirit lad!

The 2nd XV had a home fixture on Saturday where they beat a spritied Ealing Trailfinders side 41-26.
Two fantastic games to prove the strength in depth of the current crop of Wimbledon RFC.

This coming weekend sees the 1st XV travel to Amersham and Chiltern, the Ladies XV travel to Teddington and the 3rd XV host Chobham all this Saturday
As previously mentioned, the club will be showing the 6 nations - so it would be great to see you all down there.

That's enough from me today.

Big Love

Badger
