Well the Christmas gluttony is over (obviously excluding the front row) and the New Year's hangovers are slowly dissipating (obviously excluding the veteran's side who have only just woken up and realised we are in a different millennium). Ah the bleak mid-winter is past and it is has been thoroughly rugby less!......... or has it? Let us glance into Badger's crystal ball and have a look into the future of Wimbledon RFC.

Over the Christmas period we saw the return of the Wimbledon U21 Hornets, many of whom were back from their time at university..... er.... studying - apparently.

On 21st December they played against Kings and had a narrow loss, despite large amounts of territory and some fantastic individual displays. Their game against Cobham was cancelled on the 30th due to fog. Tomorrow night they are at home against Effingham with a 7.30pm kick off. It would be great to see the touch line flooded with Dons old and new to support the future of the club.

I attach a picture of the current Hornets side. A number of players have already featured for the 1st and 2nd XV. In addition with the 1st XV starting the year off only one point behind league leaders Tonbridge Juddians - I think I can safely say - the future's bright; the future's claret and blue.
