Good Afternoon Ye Mighty Dons!

Another good weekend for the club has passed us by. I will come to that in a short moment but just a quick note about parking - now take this seriously - it comes from on high!

We have a number of volunteers who help monitor our parking situation. We have an agreement with the residents that we do not park on Barham Road, Drax, Hood or Preston Roads. The volunteers who help monitor this are doing this to help our club and this season we have seen a dramatic reduction in traffic flow. If the car park is full please follow the advice of the volunteers and do not give them grief. On Sundays only cars for U11s and under and the Inclusive teams are allowed to drop at the club house. Other age groups are required to drop at the top of Preston or the bottom of Drax and then find alternative parking. I would just like to state that our volunteers are just that - volunteers. They give up their free time to help our club and so please can we not forget our manners and treat them with the respect they deserve. My advice is to get public transport to the club and then you can have a swifty at the bar and not worry about driving - feel free to buy me one to boot!.... anyway - rant over.

Saturday saw the 1st XV welcome Shelford to Barham Road as the only game of the day. Although bottom of the table Shelford have been looking better of late so all eyes were intrigued as to how this would play out - with a much changed Dons XV. To the delight of the home fans the boys in claret and blue really took them to task and came home with a 74-0 victory. Match report here.

The Mavericks of the 3rd XV travelled to Chobham to face their 2nd XV and cam back with another impressive score of 0-51 - showing great strength and depth in the Wimbledon locker!

The old lags and young bucks of the Strollers to an away day to Old Reigations looking to build on their impressive run of victories - and did just that. Even with a couple of late drop outs the boys came home with a 14-27 victory to round off a clean sweep for the Don's mens sides this weekend.

Sunday saw the Ladies XV welcome a powerful Guildford Gazelles to Barham Road looking to get a follow up from last week's excellent performance. Unfortunately it was just a bridge too far for the valiant ladies in claret and blue who put in a spirited performance but just fell short. Even though the final scoreline read 5-48, it doesn't reflect the heart the Dons left on the pitch. Oh well - you can't win them all.

Well done to all who wore the colours this weekend.

Right - keep your email eyes peeled for details of the Wooden Spoon dinner being held at Wimbledon very shortly. Chairman Wow will be sending this out - so get tickets in early to avoid disappointment.

Have a marvellous week all of you!
