Good Afternoon Ye Mighty Dons!

Well the first weekend is done and dusted and although the rugby score might not have been what the Dons wanted to see from the first game in National 2 - the occasion was a thoroughly enjoyable one to remember Matt Bond with our guests from Barnstaple. As suggested the 1st XV didn't quite achieve the win they had hoped for succumbing to a 33-13 defeat. The match report can be found here.

All of us at the club send our deepest thanks to our friends from Barnstaple for their good company and sportsmanship on Saturday and for the trophy they had made to honour Bondy. This will be awarded every time our 1st XVs meet. We very much look forward to visiting them later in the season.

On Pitch 2 the 2nd XV saw out a really tough victory with a 28-24 win over Hertford. The never say die attitude of his young charges will have personally pleased manager Marc Bertrand who was rumoured to have been seen smiling after the game. Will wonders never cease?

Sunday also saw the return to training for the mini and youth sections of the club - there are a few positions going on their committees - including registration officer, fixtures secretary, treasurer and kit sales organiser. Our club is built on the hard work of volunteers - so if you can spare the time - please put your name forward!

Finally - it is with great anticipation that we announce the club will be holding a fireworks night with Willington School on the 28th October. Tickets will be on sale very soon - but get it in your diary. There will be more details to follow soon - but lets just get that marked in your calendars early please.

Right that's enough for now from me. This weekend sees a much wider selection of the club in action - so keep your eyes on the website and social media for further details.

Big Love

Badger
