Apologies from the tech team

Good Afternoon Ye Mighty Dons!

Apologies for being away for a few weeks , however it is nice to be back! So let's have a round up from last weekend's action!

The 1st XV faced a very powerful Taunton side and, even though they had a very impressive fightback ultimately lost 27-42. You can read Terry Bagworth's match report here . However the team have gained their first point this season and so the prospects asre looking up for the boys in claret and blue. As the seasons change, so maybe do out fortunes.

The 2nd XV opposition unfortiunately had to pull out, but the 3rd XV had a big result beating London Exciles 2nd XV 5-87. Quite the result.

Sunday, saw the Wimbledon Ladies XV travel to deepest darkest Devonshire to face Cullompton away. They came back with a memorable and rewarding 21-36 win. Here is Anna Yeardley's match report:

On Sunday the ladies traveled to Cullompton, which for those that don't know is just off the M5 . The Dons dominated the play in the first 20 minutes and took the lead early on, however a lapse of concentration let Cullompton in and they went in front with by 2 points when their flyhalf converted the try. Wimbledon kept their composure and kept the pressure on and were soon in front again, at the break it was still close with Wimbledon leading 14-22. The Dons continued to apply pressure and played some very good rugby, they stuck to their patters of of play, the set piece worked well and set up the backs for some great running lines. The ladies came away with the points and are currently joint top of the table, scorers on the day were Emily, Luciana, Leah and Laura V, Captain Hannah Gutteridge converted 3 of the 6 tries. With a break next week the ladies are next in action on 8th October when they travel to Drybrook

So that's the seniors round up done. Now onto this coming weekend. The 1s and 2s are off to Bury St Edmunds whilst the 3rd XV hold the Saturday fort against Effingham and Leatherhead. The Ladies XV have the weekend off (as above).

However - this Sunday sees the mini and youth festival at the club. The clubhouse will be packed so we do please strongly urge anyone coming down to please leave their cars at home.
