A very happy Tuesday to all ye fine folk.

Good Afternoon Ye Mighty Dons!

A very happy Tuesday to all ye fine folk.

A few bits to note here - but first up here are the weekend's results:

The 1st XV, after a valiant effort, unfortunately went down 26-55 at home against Hemley. Unfortunately the match report is not available yet but keep your peepers peeled on the website for that.
The 2nd XV fared better with a 37-17 victory over Henley 2nd XV.
The 3rd XV faced Battersea Ironsides and unfortunately went down 21-26 against their 2nd XV.
The Strollers meanwhile traveled to Kingston for an early kick off against their 2nd XV. The game was 0-26 victory for the Dons but unfortunately the game was abandoned early in the second half after a neck injury to a Kingston player. He is on the road to recovery but everyone at Wimbledon wishes him a speedy recovery. Thank you also to those strollers players who headed back to the club to help out the 3rd XV.

Sunday saw the Ladies XV welcome Guildford Gazelles to the club. Unfortunately they also fell just short with a 22-37 defeat. Again there is no match report up at this time but keep you eyes on the website going forward.

So a bit of a mixed bag of results for the senior section this week. Onwards to next week!

Youth Policy
I have had a number of coaches and parents come up to me recently and say how pleased they are to see so many former mini and junior players representing the club at all levels. From U19s getting their first taste of senior men's rugby in the strollers, to representatives playing for the 3rd XV, 2nd XV and leading the charge for the 1st XV.

With that in mind it is worth saying thank you to all the parents and volunteers who help out every Sunday, bringing players to the club and coaching, marshaling and doing all the required jobs which make this club a winner. I'm sure it wont be long before before we see our first girls player taking up the baton of representing the Ladies XV.

Fireworks Night - This Saturday
OK as we all know - the big do is sold out this weekend. Just a couple of pointers below from the organizing team if you are going so please read.

Rights - that's enough from me for now - don't forget lunch on December 5th.

Marshals
If you can spare some time to help, please get in touch. Many hands make light work and there’s a free burger in it for you ?

New start time
The display will still take place at around 7:30pm, but as we’ve so many attendees, the doors will now open at 5:30pm.

  1. Wristbands/tickets. Please ensure you are wearing your wristbands on arrival by car or public transport – wristbands will be checked on entry. No wristband, no entry.
  2. Parking. Usual Sunday morning rules apply - do NOT park in coned off areas – we need to ensure emergency access. Both car parks will be in use and the overflow too, providing the weather stays good. There is unrestricted parking at the bottom end of Copse Hill.
  3. Public transport. We expect the car parks to be extremely busy and would therefore urge you to use public transport if possible – this will allow full use of the bar too! The number 57 bus stops at Holland Avenue and Cottenham Park Road, and it is a short walk to the rugby club from here.
  4. Supervising children. We want you all to have a fun evening and we will have a designated fireworks viewing area, supervised by a team of marshals. However, we must remind you all that your children are your responsibility at all times. Anyone ignoring safety rules or instructions may be asked to leave.
  5. NO personal fireworks or sparklers. Please do not bring personal fireworks or sparklers as these will be confiscated.
  6. Torches and footwear. As lighting will be limited (including in the car parks) and the ground may be damp and/or uneven, please bring torches and wear wellies or flat shoes. The heels can stay at home!
  7. Cancellation policy. The fireworks will be postponed in the event of severe wind or heavy rain. Notification will be done via emails to the club and an update on http://wmrfc.co.uk
  8. First aid. Please approach any marshal in a hi-vis jacket to locate first aid or other assistance. Emergency broadcasts can be made via the PA system if necessary.
